Daewoo Group, one of the largest of these conglomerates, was involved in everything from automobiles to shipbuilding to consumer electronics. In the 1990s, Daewoo overtook Hyundai as the largest company in South Korea, with annual revenues of $80 billion and over 300,000 employees.
