The "BTR" 8-wheeled armored car is the first full-scale armored personnel carrier developed in the former Soviet Union. It was designed to be an easy-to-produce and inexpensive vehicle, and was adopted by the Soviet Army, which developed it, and other Soviet allies. However, in the early days, the design did not prioritize survivability, so it was easily destroyed on the battlefields where it was deployed. The "BTR" then evolved from the "BTR-70" to the "BTR-80" equipped with a diesel engine, and the "BTR-80" also gave birth to a derivative combat support vehicle. In this video, we trace the origins of the development of the all-purpose armored vehicle "BTR" 8-wheeled armored car and its subsequent development. #afv #weapon explanation #military #tank #armored car #btr60 #btr70 #btr80 #btr90 #soviet army #weapon encyclopedia #weapon development #weapon history
