Hunter vs Warlock. Match Summary In this Diamond Rank matchup, we take our 40-card Highlander Hunter deck against a highly aggressive Imp Warlock. The early game is a struggle for survival as the Warlock floods the board with Vile Library buffs and endless Imps, reducing us to critical health levels. The turning point of the match comes down to the "Reno Reset"—utilizing Reno Jackson to fully heal from near-lethal damage, followed by Reno, Lone Ranger to clear the board. Once stabilized, we pivot to offense using Marin the Manager to secure a heavy-hitting endgame. Deck Strategy: Highlander Hunter (Renathal Build) This deck utilizes Prince Renathal to increase our starting health to 40, buying time against aggro decks. As a Highlander (no duplicates) build, the strategy revolves around surviving until we can activate our high-value "payoff" cards. Survival: The core of this deck is resilience. We use cards like Reno Jackson and Reno, Lone Ranger to reset the game state when overwhelmed. Value Generation: We rely on Flightmaster Dungar and Marin the Manager to generate resources that outvalue the opponent in the late game. The Pivot: The goal is to exhaust the opponent's resources (hand size and board) and then drop large threats that they cannot answer. Game Strategy: Vs. Imp Warlock Mulligan: Look for early board control or cost-reduction cards. Keeping Reno Jackson is acceptable if you suspect an aggressive opponent. Weathering the Storm: Imp Warlock generates wide boards very quickly. Do not panic if your health drops low; use your health as a resource to bait them into overcommitting to the board. The Clear: Time your board clears (like Reno, Lone Ranger) for after they have played their refill cards (like Impending Catastrophe or Rafaam). Finishing: Once their board is clear and their hand is empty, transition immediately to face damage or summoning large minions (like the Dragons from Zarog’s Crown) to close the game before they can draw a solution.
