There's all sorts of relationship advice that sounds great on how to let go and move on, how to let go of someone you love, how to move on from a relationship, etc. but in those cold lonely moments of pain, are those punchy soundbites enough to carry you through? Knowing how to move on means understanding that it is a marathon, not a sprint. You can do this, everyone can, but letting go of someone really involves facing yourself in all sorts of different ways. And when it comes to how to let go of a toxic relationship (and the process of letting go of a toxic relationship), outsiders sometimes have the impression that it should be easier because you're supposedly letting go of a bad relationship. Again, the truth is being able to let go and move on requires us to face things within ourselves. Our progress happens when we discover a way to access peace where we used to find fear, when we discover inspiration where we used to have injury and when we can see clarity where there was once only a fog of confusion. The truth about how to move on from someone you love isn't actually about losing someone or deciding to let him go. It's about recognizing something within our own selves that we can no longer allow if we wish to be happy.
