In this talk from our 2012 Research Symposium, Dr. Meltzoff, Co-director Institute of Learning & Brain Sciences at the University of Washington talks about how babies watch and listen to people, learning whether to imitate behavior. He calls it "emotional eavesdropping". Children bring this skill to school, and it makes them vulnerable to the effects of stereotypes they encounter.
