I never imagined attempting to paint Jesus Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane, but when the invitation for this commission came, I couldn't say no. Where do you even begin to paint such an intense and sacred subject? I started in the scriptures, reading every account in the New Testament. I searched my soul and revisited the darkness nights of my life, nights where I needed Jesus Christ like never before. Moments where the Garden of Gethsemane seemed a present place, as Jesus met me in my own suffering. I believe God allows us times like this, so we can have some knowing, so we can gain an education that comes in no other way. I hope this piece reminds you in your moments of pain that you are never alone.
