Girato e Montato da Manuele Mariotti What a great experience! It took me a couple of years to set up another surfcamp in Lanzarote. We all needed to practice and Edu Etxeberria also wanted to watch and have a clue of our surfing abilities before starting to correct and teach, but when it came his time to try he left us all speechless with a magnificent technique and amazing moves, in my mind I was constantly repeating: "he's an alien". But he was not alone in bringing on the show, also Kelly Marie Henry and Darragh Walsh were at a very good surfing level, probably even better than their preceding reputation... I met Darragh few more times in the past years and I have to say he improved a lot and his confidence in the water let him catch very nice and gnarly waves. Hope you enjoy your Aò! Sirius paddle mate! It's incredible the good use you make of it :) Kelly instead was a total surprise. I could see some of her photos riding big californian waves but here she had to enfront to a very changing situation between the sandy bottom and the tide getting lower and lower (which means a constant research for a better positioning before the catch). Her paddling technique is so perfect and so efficient that you could see her get where she wanted and maneuvre effortlessly in any situation, I could also see some strategy in any decision she took... A very good and talented paddler. It was the next day that I saw everybody express their best potential. We went to Orzola where the waves were tiny (1-1,5 mt) but the readind was easier in that small bay and not wide like Famara. All the group was surfing well, Fabio was understanding better how to control his bodyweight, Sergio and Roberto were riding their Watertech 666 IC boats without fins so it was not easy to stay on the wave without drifting sideways. I don't know exactly what kind of secret Edu revealed them but the level of surfing was noticeably better... Day three was dedicated to discover the island and its landscapes. We went to visit the volcanic area and got into the crater of El Cuervo, what an astonishing place! It was like being in another planet. Unforgettable. We couldn't miss the visit to the fifth more ancient Bodega of Spain to taste some local quality wines with a side of cheese and natural jam samples....
