I've wanted to visit Old Rhinebeck for at least forty years and last Friday I finally succeeded; my wife and I took a ride in the New Standard D-25 and stayed for the airshow on Saturday. Forty five New Standard D-25 aeroplanes were built by the New Standard Aircraft Company in 1929-30. The fuselage is duralumin angle and sheet, rivetted together, with fabric covering. The wings are largely wooden. Powered by a 220 hp Wright J-5, it carries 4 passengers in an open cockpit, with the pilot behind. It is simply splendid!
