MetroTV, Hundreds of pro-Palestine demonstrators marched through Seoul on Sunday, condemning the visit of US President Donald Trump, who they accuse of being 'complicit' in genocide in Gaza. Footage shows large crowds banging drums and waving Palestinian flags as they made their way to Gwanghwamun Square. Some protesters held signs that read 'Release Palestinian detainees', while others chanted 'Trump not welcome here'. "We're protesting for the sake of Palestine, and specifically today, we're speaking out against Trump coming to South Korea," explained a protester. "We see him (Trump) as a war criminal along with Netanyahu. So we're protesting that he shouldn't be able to travel internationally. And definitely, we don't want him here when he's committing war crimes in Palestine," she added. Another protester claimed that the US, along with the international governments, support the conflict in Gaza. "The US government is very complicit in the genocide. Not only the US government but also the German government, the French government and many Western governments are complicit in what is happening in Gaza and in the West Bank," she said. President Trump is expected to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Gyeongju from October 31 to November 1. The war in Gaza erupted on October 7, 2023, when Hamas attacked southern Israel, killing more than 1,000 people. Israel responded with a large-scale military campaign in Gaza that has killed more than 68,000 Palestinians, according to local authorities. Israel and Hamas signed a peace agreement that came into effect on October 10, as part of Trump's 20-point plan. The deal includes an immediate cessation of hostilities, the release of all hostages - both living and deceased - and the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
