The pastor preaches from Ephesians 1:3–14 and says the passage isn’t a cold list of doctrines but a doxology—truth meant to make Christians worship. In the “treasure chest” of gospel “jewels,” he focuses on “the Jewel of Adoption” (Eph 1:5): God didn’t only choose His people—He chose them to be His sons, brought into His family through Jesus Christ, “to the praise of the glory of His grace” (Eph 1:6). He explains adoption as full sonship: in Christ, believers receive the status, security, acceptance, and inheritance rights of sons (Gal 4:7). This is planned “before the foundation of the world,” and it’s tied to being made holy and blameless in Christ, so rebels aren’t merely forgiven—they are brought home. He stresses the comfort and awe of God’s unchanging fatherly love: nothing can “turn off” His love toward His adopted children. Using Israel as God’s “son” (Ex 4:22–23), he pictures God confronting the enemy: “Let my son go.” He then points to Jesus as the true Son—one with the Father (John 10:30)—who also became truly human, “bringing many sons to glory” (Heb 2). Because believers are united to Christ, Jesus is “not ashamed to call them brethren” and even “sings praise” among the church (Heb 2:10–12). He adds that the Father loves believers with the same love He has for the Son (John 17:23). Finally, he highlights the Trinitarian work of adoption: the Father purposes it, the Son secures it, and the Spirit applies it, giving believers the cry “Abba, Father” (Rom 8:15; Gal 4:6). The sermon repeatedly returns to the aim: adoption is meant to move God’s people to wonder, assurance, and loud praise—all “to the praise of the glory of His grace.”
