The Tiger Cages | A Short Documentary by Jeff Nesmith

On Jan. 27, 1976, before the House Committee on International Relations, U.S. Ambassador Graham Martin testified that the collapse of the South Vietnamese government was not a result of the policies of Saigon or Washington, but was instead caused “by one of the best propaganda and pressure organizations the world has ever seen,” organized by “the multi-faceted activities of Mr. Don Luce.” This is the story of the Tiger Cages, a prison system on Con Son Island run by Vietnamese, French, and American administrators. For decades, the Tiger Cages were used to imprison, torture, and murder thousands of political prisoners. And for decades, they were kept a secret. This is a story of abuse and reconciliation. This is a story about the people who risked their careers and their lives for the truth; brave people determined to bring an end to the Tiger Cages, and ultimately the Vietnam War.
