EVERYTHING SHOWN IS SAE, you will not find metric hardware in Aviation other than some low production European light aircraft and European helicopters. Even Airbus uses SAE. if I run into any, I have metric tools in my truck. everything you need to start school or work as an aircraft mechanic or apprentice mechanic, without the extra garbage included with most pre-made mechanics tool sets. Once you land a job, look at what everyone around you has to see if a roll away or tool cart would be a good purchase. If you need to borrow a tool twice, it's time to buy your own. Basic tool list: (your school/employer may require additional) 1/4” drive 12 point SAE shallow socket set ¼” drive ratchet ¼” drive extensions 3/8” drive 12 point SAE shallow socket set 3/8” drive ratchet 3/8” drive extensions Allen SAE wrench set (must include 0.050) 808CF wire cutters (snap-on is the only one, try Ebay for a better price) Needle nose pliers Duckbill pliers Wire stripper/crimper Pick set (Icon is as good as snap-on) #1 phillips screwdriver #2 phillips screwdriver Flat head screwdriver 3/16” tip (cabinet type tip recommended) Flat head screwdriver 1/4” tip ¼” to 1” SAE combination wrenches (look for a set with 11/32” and 15/16”) Tape measure 12 foot or more Multimeter (just put a “reference only” sticker on it now) Feeler gauge set Hammer (Harbor freight with replaceable tips) Pin punch set Hacksaw with blades Extendable 2” mirror 6” ruler marked in tenths of an inch Safety glasses Ear muffs *(optional until you get your first job) *1/4 to 3/8 to ½ and back socket adapters *Razor knife (snap off or replaceable) *Reversible safety wire pliers (Stanley J196-TT or try the yard store.com, brown tool, ebay) **Flat head screwdriver 3/8" tip (for GA rocker box cover screws and not much else) *Flush cut pliers (harbor freight $3 ones are my go to) *7” Knipex pliers wrench (the patent has expired on these, so there are many clones) *Schrader tire valve tool (screwdriver style is easier to use) ++ (my storage recommendations) ++ Apache 5800/Pelican 1510 case, (facebook marketplace may have a deal) +wrench+ rolls, tool rolls and tool pouches to keep it all organized. (amazon, temu, walmart, home depot, lowes, etc) ++ silver paint marker (to trace each tool in the tool roll or wrench roll for tool control) ++voyager 11" tool bag, (fits perfectly in the apache/pelican for the small stuff organization) ++Velcro 2" 10 pound industrial velcro (tool case lid storage attachment) = (my school also required these) =Combination steel rule with bubble level square =dividers with pencil (for tracing circles on material) =Grease pencil
