Join me today as I share my newest crafting obsession! Spun cotton was used to create ornaments in Germany and spread through eastern Europe during the 1800's and early 1900's. They have popped up on the vintage ornament market and in antique stores recently and there seems to be a resurgence in the Instagram and TikTok universes, as well. I really loved making these so much that I had to share! Here is the Starch Mixture Recipe: 1T cornstarch 1T water Mix together Boil 1 cup water in small pan Leave simmering while you add 1 tsp cornstarch and water mixture at a time - stirring until the boiling mixture is clear each time. Keep going until all the starch and water mixture is gone. The boiling mixture should get to the consistency of egg whites. Let cool and pour into a jar and keep in refrigerator when not using.
