Lala Tamar and Ofer Ronen interpreting the song Noudjoum Al-leil by Cheikh El Hasnaoui, made famous by Kamel Messaoudi. Flamenco guitar, Arabic violin, double bass, and Middle Eastern voice meet here in this piece in a fusion of cultures. Lala Tamar introduced this beautiful song to me, and I fell in love with it. Urging myself to make my own version, in my own styles, came to life this flamenco Arabe version, utilizing the Arabic violin played by Elad Levi. The music in Algeria was many times influenced during the 20th century from many other cultures and other kinds of Mediterranean music, such as flamenco, latin music and more. We strive to give our own versions of songs of traditional music, middle eastern music, and ethno music. I hope you’ll enjoy and be touched by our rendition of Noudjoum Al-leil. Lala Tamar and me have been performing for many years, and had many journies around the world performing Sephardic music, Ladino, Jewish music, and Arabic Moroccan music to different crowds.
