Date: Saturday, 27 May 2023 I went for a cycling trip to Johor, Malaysia with my daughter Inka and our friends from the GSGID+ and Burkam cycling communities: om Daniel, om Mahfudh and om Ronny. We went to Tanjung Piai National Park and Kukup fishing town, through the newly opened Pulai River bridge. We left home at around 4am and met our friends at the meet-up place at Esso Woodlands Road. We left Esso at around 4:45am and cleared both Singapore and Malaysia immigration by 5:15am. We had breakfast and Subuh prayer at TKR Taman Perling and then proceeded to the new Pulai River bridge for a quick photo stop there. We proceeded to go to Tanjung Piai and reached the National Park at around 8am. The staff didn't allow us to take photos even in the public area of the park (where the monument is located) because the park was still officially closed and will only open at 9am. We then proceeded to Kukup and initially wanted to have a coffee break at Kopi Tenggek, but ended up going to a nearby coconut stall instead. We explored the Kukup Laut fishing village (turning left once you reach the end of Jalan Kukup) and it's quite interesting. After a "refuelling" stop at Petronas Permas Kechil, we proceeded back to Johor Bahru via the same Pulai River bridge and had nasi mandi for our lunch at Zaituna restaurant in Taman Tasek. After a quick stop at nearby Nasi Lemak Royale Kedah to replenish our water, we then proceeded back to Singapore via the causeway. #cycling #tanjungpiai #kukup #kukuplaut #pulairiver #sungaipulai #bridge #zaituna #nasimandi #johor #johorbahru #pontian #malaysia #singapore
