YouTube survival contestant found safe after missing for 18 hours in Michigan forest

A 36-year-old woman from California, competing in a YouTube outdoor survival contest, was found safe after being missing for nearly 18 hours in the Pigeon River Forest, Charlton Township, according to Otsego County Sheriffs Office. The woman left the designated base camp on September 5, around 5 p.m. to search for water and did not return, prompting the contest hosts to begin their own search efforts. When these attempts proved unsuccessful, authorities were notified at approximately 5 a.m. on September 6. A coordinated search effort was launched, and at around 10:40 a.m., a Michigan State Police helicopter located the woman deep within a swampy area. Despite the cold and rain, she was able to walk out under her own power. Emergency medical services evaluated her on the scene, and she was released with no serious injuries, according to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office.
