‘Israel dictating US foreign policy’: Analyst on South Pars attack

Mohamad Elmasry from the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies says Israel’s attack on South Pars has led to growing debate over who is driving US policy in the region. Trump, in a post on Truth Social, denied knowledge of the attack. “It’s easy to imagine here that Trump is not telling the truth, that he authorised this, that Israel would not have done this without his authorisation,” Elmasry said. “It’s also not difficult to imagine that Benjamin Netanyahu has once again gotten his way with Donald Trump and forced the hand of the Trump administration.” Elmasry pointed to mounting unease in Washington. “It is Israel that is actually dictating many facets of American foreign policy,” he said, noting that even Trump’s own base has begun questioning the relationship. “Israel’s purpose is to create chaos … to generate a collapse of the state in Iran … and chaos in the Gulf and the wider Middle East region.” He warned the fallout would be “catastrophic” for the Gulf countries, Europe, and the US.
