On this day in 1944, the Battle of Bastogne started as part of the larger Battle of the Bulge. Here is a British Movietone report showing fighting near the river Meuse. Marauders of the US 9th Air Force have been assisting with the reduction of the Rundstedt salient, they have attacked supply centres at Wittlichm and a railway bridge over the Moselle. The "bulge" is shrinking fast, and if the Allies have not yet succeeded in winning a sensational victory, they have driven the Hun back. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS Aerial shot of Marauder in flight.
