Dêmak) is a regency located in Central Java province, Indonesia. The capital is Demak Kota Sub-district, the district is bordered by the Java Sea to the west, Jepara Regency to the north, Kudus Regency to the east, Grobogan Regency to the southeast, and Semarang City and Semarang Regency to the west. Demak Regency has an area of 897.43 km² and a population of 1,158,772 people (2019)[1]. "Demak" comes from the Arabic word "Dhima" which means swamp. This is because the land in Demak is former swamp land, aka mud land. Even now, during the rainy season the Demak area is often inundated with water, and during the dry season the soil cracks a lot, because of the former swamp, aka mud soil. Because Demak's soil is unstable, the highways that are built are easily damaged, therefore the highways in Demak use concrete. Demak Regency is one of the regencies in Central Java located at 6°43'26"-7°09'43" LS and 110°27'58"-110°48'47" East and located about 25 km east of Semarang City. Demak is traversed by National Route 1 (pantura) which connects Jakarta-Semarang-Surabaya-Banyuwangi. Demak Regency has an area of ± 1,149.07 km², which consists of ± 897.43 km² of land, and ± 252.34 km² of ocean. Demak Regency has 34.1 km of coastline, spanning 13 villages, namely Sriwulan, Bedono, Timbulsloko and Surodadi (Sayung Subdistrict), Tambakbulusan (Karangtengah Subdistrict), Morodemak, Purworejo and Betahwalang (Bonang Subdistrict) and Wedung, Berahankulon, Berahanwetan, Wedung and Babalan (Wedung Subdistrict). Along the coast of Demak, mangrove vegetation covers an area of about 476 hectares."[7] Source: https://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kabupat... ================= Kota Kudus (Javanese: ꦏꦸꦢꦸꦱ꧀ Pegon: قدوس) (also written as Kota) is the capital city of Kudus Regency which is also the center of government and economy of Kudus Regency. Kudus is also a district located in Kudus Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. According to Ricklefs, Kudus is the only city in Java that uses a name from the Arabic language[4]. The word "Kudus" comes from the Arabic word Al-Quds (Arabic: القُدس) which means holy, clean. The use of this name began with the establishment of the Menara Kudus Mosque which is a legacy of Sunan Kudus. The first stone of this mosque came from Al-Aqso Mosque in Jerusalem, so the mosque was named Al-Manar or Al-Aqso. Thus, the area around this mosque is called Al-Quds, imitating the name of the city of Jerusalem known as Baitul Maqdis or Al-Quds.
