Hierarchy in Heaven - Closer to God In Heaven?

Why not start a conversation around Heavenly Rewards. Do you think there are levels to Heaven? Full Transcipt Recently I have been talking about rewards and more specifically heavenly rewards. Although the Bible is quite clear and specific about this topic there are still a number of Christians who get quite upset to think that we will not all be rewarded the same when going to heaven. To receive any other rewards on top of salvation would be just wrong. Firstly in answering this I would say that salvation is not a reward but a free gift solely earned by Gods great sacrifice for us. It’s all his work and none of ours.Ephesians 2vs8 says it’s Gods free gift it’s not earned or deserved. It’s gods free gift to us offered to all. God has done it all. Its not about our work at all but when Jesus talks about rewards it’s then it’s all about our work. Jesus talks about rewards for specific actions. The things we do then he will reward us. Just look at these Bible passages. about rewards which Jesus tells us about from Matthew and there are lots more in the other gospels. Matthew 25vs21 parable of the talents Matthew 6vs2 giving to the needy and Matthew6vs6 praying in secret and there are lots more too. How we live our life as a Christian is very important to God and it will affect our eternal future with him. How important is God to us? Do we take our salvation for granted and just get on with our daily life and occasionally pay lip service to God. Or do we make God our number one priority being thankful every day that he’s in my life. Be assured that heaven will be filled with both types of person. Those who have been zealous for God and those have been more interested in this life. There are Christians who will tell you and even teach you that you can live your life the way you want as there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. There may be no condemnation just look at to 2Samuel12vs14 when God says that He has forgiven King Davids sin with Bathsheba but there were sterne consequences and so it will be for those who live a life for themselves rather than for God after being born again. 1Corinthians3vs15 tells us to be careful how you build because you may suffer loss yes loss, I believe this is the loss of what you could’ve had but get to heaven as one escaping through the flames.. So back to our question are their degrees in heaven? Maybe degrees is the wrong word to use but not everyone will be the same or have the same status as the Bible makes it clear that heaven will have a hierarchy. There will not however be degrees of happiness as everyone will be full to the capacity of their hearts desire for Jesus. we will receive far more than what we deserve and we will know that and be eternally grateful. As a consequence there will be no sin in heaven, no jealousy no resentment no envy we will all be extremely happy holy and extremely grateful. Rewards are an incentive to chase hard after God through obedience love and worship. As we do so so his power will be made real in us and our desire for him will grow. What shape will these rewards take? What Jesus says in Matthew6vs21 is a big clue when talking about storing up treasure in heaven. He says where your treasure is there your heart will be also. What does the zealous Christian desire most? It’s to be close to Jesus and I believe closeness to him will be our very great reward. Let us Pray Thank you father that I belong to you. You could have created me as an ant or a bug but you created me as a human being, top of the food chain. then you gave me new life through, life to my spirit through the sacrificial death of your son. now I have an even greater opportunity of pressing on with you. Empower My desire to obey your command to love you with all my heart, with all my soul and all my strength and all my mind. for I want to spend eternity with you as close to you as possible.
