The schedule will be announced soon, so check back - and coming up is my visit to Wilderness Lodge - so at the end of this video please, Like, subscribe and Ring that bell! In this video, we're going to take a Disney's Wilderness Lodge - the location of two Disney Vacation Club properties at Wilderness Lodge and I'll compare Copper Creek where I stayed in the BEST studio room ever!!! To Boulder Ridge which gives you more of a vacation feel. Let's take a look at this lovely resort, which takes you right into the Wilderness. This Carolwood Pacific Railroad Room is located in the lobby of the Boulder Ridge Villas - a huge advantage is this room, lobby, and another entrance to the health club in Boulder Ridge, compared to Copper Creek. This room serves as a mini-museum dedicated to Walt Disney’s personal obsession with railroads, specifically his 1/8th-scale backyard railway, the Carolwood Pacific Railroad. The walls are lined with vintage photos of Walt operating his trains. One notable piece is an oil painting by Bob Byerly titled "Walt Disney's Magical Barn," which depicts an older Walt working on his trains being greeted by his younger self. You'll see original Train Cars: and the "crown jewels" of the room are two original freight cars from Walt’s backyard train. These actual pieces of history traveled around his home on Carolwood Drive in California and were part of the inspiration for building Disneyland. Even the fireplace is themed; the custom steel screen features a silhouette of a steam train (often compared to "Casey Jr." from Dumbo). You can see detailed models of the Lilly Belle (the locomotive named after Walt’s wife, Lillian) and a smaller replica of the entire backyard train set. Copper Creek is a little closer to the Red Flag boats are which is a direct route to the Magic Kingdom. Boats usually arrive every 8–12 minutes. As a Grandma tip, – If the line for the boat is massive after fireworks, the bus is often much faster, though far less scenic. The Blue Flag boat connects the "Bay Lake Triangle" From Wilderness Lodge, it typically takes about 5–7 minutes to reach your first stop either the Contemporary or Fort Wilderness, depending on which boat arrives first. During my stay, it only ran in the afternoon. So let's bring it all together. We've looked at both resorts, and here's how they stack up. Boulder Ridge gives you that true vacation feel — it's separate, secluded, and peaceful. You're steps from the health club and pool, and that pool opens at 7AM, so if you're an early riser like me, you basically have it to yourself. The Candlewood Room is a great DVC-exclusive lounge, bus transport is super close, and the studios are bigger, sleep five instead of four and a Murphy Bed instead of a pull out sofa couch. Copper Creek on the other hand is right in the heart of the action. You're closer to the boat to Magic Kingdom, the pool has a slide and activities for the kids, and you're inside the main lodge so food and shopping are right there. It does feel more like a hotel than a true DVC though. One insider tip — ask the front desk for an 'alternate' studio, room numbers ending in 15, or some in 23 and 25 — those are your best bets. Just keep in mind some rooms were converted, so balconies can be limited. For me personally? Boulder Ridge takes it. And the best part — in September, both properties come in at just 13 points per night, so the value is identical. For you - if you have kids and planning days at the Magic Kingdom, I think they'll enjoy Copper Creek. If you're retired like me and enjoy the health spa, early mornings at the pool, walking the soon-to-be-reopened nature walk to Fort Wilderness and the new Lakeshore DVC - then Boulder Ridge.
