Due to the record-breaking rains, significant flood disasters struck many places, especially in Fukuoka Prefecture, Saga Prefecture, and Oita Prefecture. In Toho Village, muddy streams carved into roads, and there were massive landslides on mountain slopes. Six years ago, in 2017, the area suffered a similar flood disaster, making this the second time it has been afflicted. The climbing kiln and mortar, which are also featured in the footage, were damaged in this heavy rainfall and have become unusable. To preserve the techniques and culture that have been handed down through generations, the Takatori Yaki pottery lineage is currently embarking on a crowdfunding campaign.
