In this video, I’m diving into the process of making the sides for my latest acoustic guitar build. The sides are made from 5,300-year-old bog oak, the same incredible material used for the back. Shaping ancient wood like this is always a special experience—it's both a technical challenge and an artistic one. I’ll take you through the bending process, fitting the sides to the mold, and preparing everything for the next steps of the build. The construction technique I’m using for the sides was developed by Jeremy Clark of 52.Instrument Co., whose innovative approach has had a big influence on my own building methods. This part of the build is where the guitar really starts to take shape, and you can begin to see the character and soul of the instrument emerging. Grab a coffee or a drink of your choice, and join me in the workshop for another piece of the story! Thanks for watching, and stay tuned for the next stage of the journey.
