Whatup guys, Captain Pretzel here! A few months ago I shared my first Melee Kirby combo video, "Dreaming", here. Despite several doubts I had regarding both my own abilities and how well people would receive a Kirby combo video, I was met with an overwhelmingly positive reaction, so thank you all so much for that! :D Since then, I've played a lot of Melee! I've grinded more in the last 3 months than I did in my first 3 years of playing competitively, and it's just been starting to pay off. My mechanical and technical consistency have improved, and I feel like I understand both the character I play and Melee as a whole a bit more than I did a few months ago. I made my first combo video for three primary reasons: 1) to motivate myself to improve through documenting what was then my peak gameplay, 2) to showcase stylish Kirby combos and tech that few (if any) have seen before, and 3) to revive interest in an underplayed and (in my opinion) underrated character. After recently revisiting my old combo video, I realized that most of the cool (at the time) stuff I showed off has since become a standard part of my play. In other words, the video no longer served my first two goals, and I figured I could better serve all three goals by making a new video. While working on this, I tried to address the constructive criticism I received on my previous video. I've tightened the editing throughout, completely cut out the tech skill clips (maybe they'll show up in a future video :) ), and done some minimal post-processing to make everything look cleaner. I'm extremely happy with the result, and I can confidently say this video is at least 1% better than my previous one. Thanks for reading this far! I hope you all enjoy "Dancing Circles"! c(^O^)7 --------- Music is "Dededelovania, Mk. II" by LucasPucas: • Dededelovania II (Masked Dedede x Megalova... Clips from netplay, The Smashing Illini ( / thesmashingillini , and Ginger ( / ssbmginger ) --------- For the extra curious, here's some trivia about the individual clips. 00:13 - Reverse-hitbox bair is extremely good at covering spacies' side-B, but fairly precise to hit with. Hitting it twice for the edgeguard was neat. 00:16 - Kirby can walljumptech Falcon and Ganon's up-B and get a dair follow-up 100% of the time. Poor guys. :( 00:22 - Dropzone upair → reverse-upair → trade with Firefox → walltech. Spicy. :O 00:24 - One of the few situations where Stone true combos into upair. I go for these whenever possible. 00:26 - It's just barely possible to get a frame-perfect invincible ledgehop inhale. I did not do it perfectly, but I had enough intangibility to avoid Falco's dsmash nonetheless. 00:34 - By SDI'ing Firefox down and teching while Dsmashing, I was able to trade with Firefox and have time for another Dsmash. Legit combo I swear. 00:36 - Because of the height Peach deployed her parasol, the inhale at the end was 100% unavoidable. It's also not possible to survive ledgehop inhale at that percent, even with near-TAS level mashing. :) 00:50 - This only works when Falco messes up Firebird stalling, but when they do ohhhhhh boy is this a fun little trick. 00:53 - Pretty sure Puff hit the Randall slot. :( 00:57 - Don't shield Stone on Randall. 01:24 - ...maybe just don't challenge Kirby on Randall in general D: 01:26 - Invincible walljumptech upair is great anti-shinespike tech :) 01:31 - "Stop it with the impossible techs! D:" ~ Anther 01:38 - Possibly my personal favorite clip and one of the best reverse edgeguards I've ever gotten. 01:58 - Reverse hitbox bair again helping out by stage-spiking Falco. 02:05 - I'm sorry Ginger. D: 02:09 - I'm sorry Anther. D: 02:14 - This is actually optimal recovery against Puff. You can mixup going on stage, snapping to ledge, or outright hitting Puff, and it's surprisingly hard for Puff to cover. 02:40 - That ftilt was actually an accident but don't tell anyone. :O 02:43 - Bair into upair is actually really good at catching spacy double jumps. 02:46 - Outplayed :)
