This is a variation on the Quadrax-does-everything patch I cooked up a while back. Using Quadrax as an audio rate oscillator isn’t the most obvious (or best) use of this module, but it’s a fun challenge to undertake. Quadrax is acting as a voice, envelope, pseudo-VCA, sequencer, and modulation source. There is more self-patching going on here than it might appear since each input on the CV matrix can be sent to multiple parameters and each parameter can receive modulation from multiple sources. The interaction between all of the interrelated parameters results in some wild modulation feedback loops that can suddenly set in motion a flurry of sound. It’s a spinning plates act. Here are some notes about the patch: Channel 1 is a LFO cranked up to audio rates. The level and shape of the waveform is being modulated by other channels. Channel 2 is a cycling AD envelope that controls the level of channel 1 (like a built-in VCA) and acts as the master clock. It also modulates the waveform of channel 1. Channel 3 is a LFO that modules all the other channels in some way, including the length of the AD segments on channel 2. Channel 4 is a Vacillator acting primarily as a pitch sequencer (quantized with Ornament and Crime) and modulating various aspects of the other channels. There are really too many CV matrix assignments going on for me to remember them all, and I forgot some pretty basic stuff like using pitch (keyboard tracking) for more dynamics.
