In this wide-ranging interview with actor and critic Narendra Prasad, Malayalam literary genius O.V. Vijayan gives a rare peek into his creative process. He discusses the evolution of this thinking and style beginning with Khasakinte Ithihasam through Dharmapuranam, and finally Gurusagaram. He laments how Indian literature around radicalism and social protest is permeated with heroes and heroines based on western constructs of logical reasoning, instead of the more spiritual and experiential constructs found in Indian traditions. Finally, he reads a passage from Dharmapuranam, which in OV's own opinion is his most poignant prose. Originally aired in June 1985 interview, video is from Doordarshan Malayalam.
