NICU Days

September is NICU awareness month! I am forever grateful to the NICU team at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center (Phoenix, AZ)!!! When my water broke unexpectedly at 21 1/2 weeks with Logan, I truly didn't know if I'd get to raise my babies in this lifetime. Through the guidance and vision of Dr. John Elliott at Valley Perinatal Services (world renowned for providing the best possible outcome for mothers of high order multiples) and the comforting words he offered, "This isn't ideal, but we're going to make the best of it." This gifted doctor filled me with an enormous amount of hope, encouragement and peace that I could do hard things and I learned the power of hope. Through faith, much prayer and God's grace I miraculously delivered five healthy babies at 29 weeks!!! I give gratitude to: The Valley Perinatal team of Doctors, St. Joseph's nurses, new friends that I met while in Phoenix, family, friends, neighbors and positive encouragement from people around the world that I believe helped save my pregnancy! The quintuplets received excellent care during their NICU stay! We celebrated milestones, met other parents on their NICU journeys and became so close to our NICU nurses-learning how to care for preemies and also connecting with other high order multiples mom's across the country. I will always consider this time sacred space. Seven years later and I have 5 rambunctious kids that are still thriving! I believe in miracles, the power of prayer, in angels seen and unseen and that there is still kindness and goodness in this world. Thank you to all those who have cared for my kids! We love you!
