Verbeeck & Sons, Islington, fairground organ, freshly restored from a completely non‑playing state by Dean Organ Builders. This magnificent instrument, built circa 1919–1925, has been brought back to life after decades of silence and is now proudly installed within a private collection. The organ features a unique and unusual musical disposition, representing one of the final stages in the development of this style of fairground instrument, Its design and musical layout stand as a testament to the ingenuity and craftsmanship of its creator. This organ has a rich and colourful history, having been operated by several well‑known British showmen, including: • Searles • Stevens • and possibly Townsend After its traveling years, the instrument eventually found its way to Butlins Ayr, where it remained until more recent times. The Restoration Dean Organ Builders were commissioned to: • Fully restore the instrument and its façade • Return the organ to reliable playing condition • Preserve its historical character while ensuring long‑term mechanical integrity This video showcases the organ playing once again—its sound, its presence, and its craftsmanship restored with care and respect for its heritage.
