Flams in drumming are when one stick hits the surface just before the second stick in the direction of travel. In this video one of my students asked about a "trick" I was doing to create a short triplet in one-direction". Seeing as it is not a triplet at all, I thought this video would help clarify things. Flams are very nice when used with hornpipes and polkas. Seeing as the flam requires 2 sticks to play I have only been able to make this work with double-ended playing techniques. It just cannot be done fast enough for single-end.
