April 4th — International Mine Awareness Day

For us, this is not just a date, but a daily challenge. In Ukraine, 139,000 square kilometers are potentially hazardous areas. This is an area equivalent to the size of Greece or Bulgaria. As of April 1st, 2025, since the start of the full-scale invasion, 1,160 people have been affected by mines and explosive devices, with 336 of them losing their lives. This is the official statistic, but the actual numbers are much higher. Over 3,000 individuals with mine and explosive injuries are already registered in the Ukrainian Deminers Association database. To stop this frightening statistic, it’s essential not only to clear mines but also to educate.
