Then the wind picked up: flap! flap! flap! And a very strong gust caused a little mishap. Go, go, go, Granny’s undies! Up, up, up, away with the breeze! Fly, fly, fly – floating free! Then those polkadot pants snagged on a tree. And from that tree a tweet was heard . . . a noisy, tiny, baby bird, perched on the edge of a nest up high, a hungry chick, too young to fly. Tripping on a twig and some broken shell, the wobbly wee bird toppled and fell! It dropped so fast … bounced off some fruit … and was saved by an underpants parachute! Go, go, go, Granny’s undies! Up, up, up, away with the breeze! Fly, fly, fly that little birdie, safely back to the nest in the tree. Then those knickers blew up high, to a mountain peak in a snowy sky. A chilly climber had lost his face mask, so getting back down was a dangerous task. Till Granny’s pants landed on his head, covering frozen ears and nose so red. Like a balaclava, they kept him warm as he climbed back down in that mountain storm. Go, go, go, Granny’s undies! Up, up, up, away with the breeze! Fly, fly, fly, so swiftly, blowing windy knickers out to sea. A ship full of pirates had struck bad luck. They’d ripped their sails, and now were stuck. Till Granny’s bloomers caught on the mast and the ship sailed home incredibly fast! And all the while, the wind blew strong, carrying Granny’s undies along. A kitten’s sleeping bag . . . a castle flag . . . they were even used as a shopping bag! There was disbelief when they caught a thief . . . then were used as a giant’s handkerchief! A hammock for a snoozy dog . . . a lily pad for a big green frog . . . And all the while the wind blew strong, carrying Granny’s undies along. Go, go, go, Granny’s undies! Up, up, up, away with the breeze! Fly, fly, fly – floating free, Back over the castle and the windy sea, past the mountain and the lone pear tree with happy tweets from the baby birdie. And they flipped, flopped, flapped, just in time for Granny to collect them from the line.
