Join me for a walk around the centre of Chelmsford, the county town of Essex and one of the UK's newest cities! However, although Chelmsford only became a city 2012, it has a long, long history going back to the early medieval period, and even back to the Roman era! It was also briefly capital of England for a few short days in July 1381! On our walk around Chelmsford, we pass a number of interesting landmarks, including the Shire Hall, Chelmsford Cathedral, the statue of Sir Nicolas Tindal, Essex County Hall, Chelmsford Market, Bell Meadow Park, the River Can, the old Regent Cinema, the site of the original crossing over the River Can, Chelmsford High Street, Chelmsford Market Cross, Chelmsford Station and Chelmsford Bus Station.
