Mumbai Rains: City Reels Under Flooding, Meethi River Swells, Commuters Suffer Again | India Today

The city of Mumbai is experiencing unabated heavy rainfall, with an average of over 150 millimetres recorded in a few hours today. Suburbs have seen higher amounts. The Meethi River's water level has risen to 3.9 metres, leading to the relocation of 350 residents from Kurla, Krantinagar, to safer areas. Chief Minister Devendra Parnavis is continuously reviewing the situation, and the Municipal Commissioner is keeping a close watch. Areas like Andheri East, Dadar, and King's Circle are among the worst hit, with widespread waterlogging. Traffic has been disrupted, and railway services on the Harbour Line are shut, while the Western Line faces delays. Despite promises of improving drainage systems, the flooding and pothole situation persist year on year. "What measures have been taken by the BMC this year, what precautions have been taken by the BMC to prevent Mumbaikars from such situation is still a big mystery for the Mumbaikars."
