When my book Very Personal Films was first released, I reached out to various bookstores to request stocking it. (And of course, I’m still doing that now.) In the process, I discovered that Suwon has a vibrant community of independent bookstores. Many young bookstore owners support one another, creating exciting and meaningful projects together. The first place I visited was 2nd_his_meaningshop A small yet book-filled space, it immediately caught my attention. And then there was Rinu, the bookstore keeper—not only running the store with great dedication but also writing and publishing books. Meeting her was an inspiring experience. This bookstore is a perfect place to focus on different ideas, an even better place to read, and perhaps the best place to write. Now that I’ve moved to Haenggung-dong, it feels like an even more fitting space.
