FP3-IAM4RAIL - PRIME, an Autonomous Robot Serving the Railway Network

This video presents PRIME, an autonomous infrastructure maintenance robot. This robot was developed as part of phase 1 of the FP3-IAM4RAIL project by SNCF, in cooperation with Trafikverket and NRD. The video was filmed during the prototype demonstration on the Caen - Cerisy Belle Etoile line in mid-November. The robot inspects the track completely autonomously in a semi-open environment (while being accompanied by operators who only intervene in the event of a problem). It detects static and dynamic obstacles on the track and stops to avoid collisions. It also analyses the collected data (track gauge) in real time. If the quality is insufficient, PRIME can reverse and pass at a lower speed to collect new measurements. This video therefore illustrates the achievement of TRL 6 for this demonstrator.
