Accounts of his life often portray him as a "Haryanvi Robin Hood" who targeted the unjust and resisted British rule. Early life and injustices Birth and family: Harphool was born into a peasant family in the village of Barwas in Bhiwani, Haryana, in 1892. Childhood hardships: He lost his father to the plague at age seven. Following a severe drought in 1899, his family moved to the village of Julani. Later, his maternal uncle denied him his share of the family land. False arrest and torture: His uncle conspired with villagers to have Harphool arrested by the Jind Police on false charges. He was brutally tortured before being released. Army service and transformation Military career: Passionate about warfare, Harphool enlisted in the Indian Army and served for 10 years, including during World War I. Receives a gun: During his service, he once saved a British family from enemies. When he retired, he requested a folding gun as his reward, which was granted. Return to tragedy: Upon returning to his village, he first killed the officer who had tortured him in his youth. He then discovered that his mother had died. Grief-stricken, he fled to the forest, where he was comforted by a sadhu and began to devote himself to protecting cows. Dacoit and cow protector Vigilantism against butchers: According to local folklore, Harphool attacked numerous butcher houses across Haryana. In one famous incident, he disguised himself as a woman to enter a guarded butcher house, where he freed trapped cows and killed several butchers. "Sawa Sher" title: This and similar acts of bravery earned him the title of "Sawa Sher" (One-and-a-Quarter Tiger) from local Hindus. British manhunt: The British, unable to capture him, put a price on his head. #viralvideo #youtube #thanksforwatching #thronepunjab
