It just doesn't seem fair that our pets' life span is so much shorter than our own. In the past year we have lost both of our old doggies, Tucker and Bo. We do still have our 16 year old cat, Sophia. She sleeps draped across my waist every night. I turn from my side, to my back, to my side...and she just flows with me. We know each other's body rhythm. A couple of years ago I knew that our standard poodle Tucker wouldn't be with us much longer, so I began to blind contour draw him (Blind Contour: drawing your subject without lifting your pen or looking at your paper in order to focus solely on your object of attention) as a way to take him into my heart and body deeply. I then drew a few realistic drawings, journaling into his body. When it was finally time to let him go the vet, and my husband Arch, helped me make a "body print" of his two front paws in my journal. It became a safe container to hold his energy there forever. I'd like to share a sweet video with you about how that spread developed. On that note, I invite you to join us for our Bodywriting Retreat to print and celebrate YOUR one, wild, precious body. Thanks for being here with me, XPamela
