🎥 Recorded during the @TeamCoachingCircle in January, 2026 The Defence Forces Team Coaching Story: Building a Culture of Collective Leadership How do you embed coaching as a strategic capability inside a highly hierarchical, mission-critical organisation? In this session, we explore the Irish Defence Forces’ multi-year journey of embedding one-to-one and team coaching across the organisation. Drawing on real, lived experience, Brendan McGuinness shares how a coaching mindset was seeded, nurtured, and scaled within an environment shaped by operational demands, constant change, and strong command structures. This conversation goes beyond theory, illuminating what it truly takes to create sustainable cultural change over time — not through one-off initiatives, but through consistent relational practice, clear collective intent, and visible leadership commitment. 🔍 In this 60-minute session, you’ll explore: ✅ How coaching was introduced and scaled inside a complex, hierarchical system ✅ The conditions that enabled coaching to take root: time, intention, sponsorship, and vision ✅ Design principles behind large-scale coaching initiatives ✅ How team coaching was adapted across different organisational contexts 👤 About the Speaker: Brigadier General Brendan McGuinness General Officer Commanding the Defence Forces Training Centre Brendan has served in the Irish Defence Forces for over 40 years, with leadership roles including Commander Joint Task Force, Director of Operations and Plans, and senior command appointments at home and overseas with the UN, EU, NATO PfP, and OSCE.
