An anti-legalization protest organized by the watchdog group Smart Approaches to Marijuana (SAM) and held Wednesday morning at the Vancouver Art Gallery attracted few supporters, a smattering of gawkers and small army of about 25 journalists. In a press release, SAM argued that Canada was breaking “international laws by commercializing the sales of highly potent marijuana.” “We will seek to shine a light where the industry would prefer darkness and expose the truth of what commercialization is doing to our country,” said Pamela McColl, chair of SAM Canada. “We will help Canadians get the help and guidance they need to deal with this dangerous, unprecedented policy.” Postmedia columnist Dan Fumano says the SAM protesters were heckled by some of the 20 or so spectators watching the demonstration.
