Copyright is a bundle of rights given by the law to the creators of literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works and the producers of cinematograph films and sound recordings. According to Section 17 of the Copyright Act, 1957, the author of a work shall be the first owner of the copyright. Generally, the creator or the author of the work is the owner of the work and therefore entitled to get the copyright for the work. Where the author of the work is employed by another person, the work belongs to the employer of the author.
