JAPAN vs ARGENTINA | HIGHLIGHTS | Men's VNL 2025. Japan beat Argentina in full sets in Men's Nations League 2025! The Japan men's volleyball national team, ranked 5th in the FIVB world rankings (before the start of the match), faced Argentina, ranked 8th, and won in a full set score of 3-2 (23-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-23, 15-13), bringing their overall record to 7 wins and 3 losses. In the first set, Japan took the lead, but their serve reception was disrupted, allowing the opponent to break. Trailing 6-9, Japan called for a timeout. At 10-14, OYAKI Maki's serve created an opportunity, leading to points, and Yamamoto Tomohiro's excellent reception led to five consecutive breaks, turning the game around to 15-14. However, Argentina fought back with serve points, allowing Argentina to turn the game around to 17-20. Sato Shunichiro's serve created opportunities, and Japan pulled away from Argentina with an 8-4 lead from the early stages. Japan maintained the lead going into the middle stage at 17-13. Sato's block put Japan at 20 points, and Miyaura's spike earned them a break point to make it 21-16, forcing Argentina to take a timeout. Miyaura's spike also brought them to set point, and in the end Argentina's serve hit the net, taking the third set 25-21. In the fourth set, both sides traded points from the beginning. After the 10-point mark, Japan pulled ahead to make it 13-10. After a timeout, Argentina closed the gap with successive blocks to make it 13-12. Then, a mistake by Japan tied the score at 16-16 and Argentina took a timeout. They then allowed two consecutive breaks, making it a tough game at 17-19. However, a service ace from Kai Yuto, who was brought in as a relief server, and another mistake by the opponent allowed them to turn the game around to 21-20. Takahashi Ai also got a service ace, making it set point, and finally Miyaura scored a spike to make it 25-23. The set count was 2-2. In the fifth set, substitute player Tomita Masama played well and made it 3-1. The score was tied, but a spike that hit Miyaura's block gave Japan a 7-5 lead, and from there, side-outs continued, and Japan was the first to reach 10 points. Relief server Kai and substitute Nishiyama Taito also played well, maintaining a two-point lead and reaching match point at 14-12. In the end, a service error by Argentina made it 15-13.
