KHAMBA KHAMNU

Khamba Khamnu is a folk film depicting the childhood period of the legendary hero of Khamba Thoibi epic of Moirang Kangleirol, who is brought up by her sister Khamnu against all odds. Shyamacharan wrote the screenplay of the film from the story of Th. Nodia, penned the lyrics and also acted in the film in the role of Puremba. Huirem Seema, the popular film actress appeared for the first time in the film in the role of Ngangkhareima. Surjakanta did cinematography and Ujjal Nandi did the Editing. The music was scored by Ningthemjao and Goshe Meitei. The film was released on December 8, 1995 at Pratap Talkies in Imphal with a solemn function which was graced by the Minister of Art and Culture M. Babu Singh as Chief Guest and the eminent scholar Elangbam Nilakanta as President. Besides releasing in theatres, the film was telecast in the Doordashan Kendra, Guwahati with 'A' grade certificate.
