This video outlines the approach VACCA takes when working with adolescents who are perpetrators of family violence. The video describes how the Family Violence Youth Workers, Jess, and James, engage with young people and families around issues such as family violence, mental health, homelessness, and other challenges. The video also demonstrates what the role of the Family Violence Youth Workers role entails by sharing case studies to illustrate challenges and learnings with the audience. _________ Presenters: Jessica Gilmour and James Brennan, Family Violence Youth Workers at The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) Jess Gilmour worked as a Case Manager for the Department of Justice as well as for different women’s refuges supporting victims of family violence before her role with VACCA. She grew up on Yamaji Country in Geraldton Western Australia. Having grown up alongside strong Aboriginal families in her community, she brings that experience into her role collaborating with Aboriginal youth in Melbourne. James Brennan has been working within the community sector for the past twenty years, mostly in advocacy roles. James also works for the community radio station 3CR, where he produces and presents two regular shows.
