Mother Earth, the Eternal Beauty of Our Nation Since ancient times, our beloved nation has been known as a land blessed with forests and seas, a place where nature breathes freely and life grows in abundance. Situated in the tropical belt, between two continents and surrounded by vast oceans, our homeland was granted extraordinary fertility. Whatever is planted in this soil takes root, grows strong, and flourishes. Our forests were never monotonous stretches of trees; they were living worlds filled with diversity. Pine trees reaching for the sky, sturdy teak standing firm through the ages, and countless other plants grew side by side, creating a natural harmony that sustained life. This richness and beauty did not go unnoticed. Our country was like a graceful and beautiful woman, radiating natural charm, admired by many and desired by those who wished to possess her. Nations came from afar with different intentions: England, Spain, the Netherlands, Japan, China, and many others. Some arrived as traders, others as guests, but many eventually sought control. Without realizing it, we lived under foreign rule for more than 350 years. For centuries, we were a colonized land, stripped of freedom and forced to serve interests not our own. Yet when we look back, something feels deeply ironic. During those long years of colonial domination, our forests largely remained standing. Nature endured. In fact, many varieties of plants from different parts of the world were introduced and grew well in our fertile land. Despite human oppression, the natural world was, in many ways, still respected. Forests continued to guard the soil, rivers flowed steadily, and the balance of nature was preserved. Strangely, after independence was finally achieved through sacrifice and struggle, the story began to change. Especially after the era of reform, when we claimed to stand on our own feet, free from foreign intervention, our forests began to disappear. Trees fell one after another, green lands turned barren, and forests vanished without clear traces. The communities living near them often did not know who took them or where they went. What they did know was the suffering left behind: floods, landslides, droughts, and disasters arriving one after another. Nature seemed to cry out, but too often its voice was ignored. We forgot that forests are not merely economic assets or sources of profit. They are our mother, silently protecting us, nurturing us, and keeping life in balance. When a mother is wounded, her children cannot escape the pain. Disasters are not curses; they are warnings. They remind us that something precious has been broken and that greed has replaced wisdom. Now is the time for reflection and awakening. Caring for nature is not the duty of governments alone, nor of a single generation. It is the shared responsibility of all who call this land home. Mother Earth has given us everything: ground to stand on, water to drink, air to breathe, and forests to shelter us. Her beauty should not fade because of our neglect. Let us protect what we still have. Let us restore and preserve our forests, seas, and land with respect and love. By doing so, Mother Earth will remain beautiful and smiling, not only as a symbol of pride, but as a living source of prosperity and well-being for us today and for generations yet to come.
