Devon Voyageur Park in Devon, Alberta, Canada

It is now summer in Canada and the family decided to go for a picnic somewhere closer to our home. Voyageur Park in the town of Devon was chosen, it is a day-use only city public park located just a 20 minute-drive southwest of the City of Edmonton in Alberta. The Park has trails for biking and walking along the river and its adjoining forest. There are lots of parking and toilet facilities with plenty of nice picnic areas for families or groups. There is also a boat launch area. It is a great place to relax and see the scenery along the valley with a nice view of the steep eroded banks across the North Saskatchewan River. The river is quite calm and peaceful in this area with relatively long gravelly beach banks ideal for swimming, kayaking, boat-riding and sun-bathing. Some people were observed fishing, gold panning and sluicing.
