We find a quadratic function in both standard form (vertex form) and general form when given its vertex and an additional point on the parabola. We first use the vertex and transformations to attach in numbers either directly to x or to the entire function to move the vertex from the origin to the given values. We the substitute the x-value and y-value of the additional provided point in for x and f(x) in our function that we have created. This leaves only one unknown (a scalar multiple that could be a stretch, compression, or vertical reflection). We solve of "a" and substitute back into the function that we created. This gives us the quadratic function in standard or vertex form. We expand to rewrite it in general form.
