Britain’s former defence procurement minister Anne-Marie Trevelyan is urging Australia to adopt a war-time approach and move on with AUKUS amid a “less secure” global environment. This comes before next Tuesday’s budget and an approaching election. “We talk about the fact that the global environment is changed, and it was less secure than it was but we are continuing our defence projects as if we are in a status quo world,” Ms Trevelyan told Sky News Australia. “Across all three nations … it’s still quite slow, in terms of taking decisions and then enacting them. “Have we got political leaders brave enough to lead and tell the electorate that this is necessary.”
