I own a King Industrial / King Canada KC-1022ML 10 x 22" metal lathe. This same lathe is much more popular as the Grizzly G0602. They are a decent beginners lathe, and are fairly economical. One of their obvious weaknesses is the lack of rigidity in the compound "clamping ring" The adjuster for the compound uses two bolts that secure the compound in place. These bolts are placed directly across from each other, in line with the centre of the degree wheel / locating pin. This creates a pivot point that allows the back of the compound to lift when doing heavy cuts or using a parting tool. A secondary part of the problem is that the dial is only held to the compound with two 5mm screws and the gib screws are small and spread out. The main focus of this video is to make a better "clamping ring"
