This is how to organize your life, school and work during an online semester through creating systems! I will be sharing my planning, note-taking, studying, and filing system! So, as the CEO of your life, you want to outline repetitive things that happen in college so you know exactly what to do. You need different systems for repetitive things in college: 1. Planning system 1. I use Google Calendar and a Filofax type planner. Google calendar is for repetitive events and time-blocking and the planner is for actually writing down tasks and keeping track of my goals and due dates. 2. I have a semester dashboard where I put down all the due dates at the beginning of the semester. This helps me figure out what my busy weeks are going to be and when I'll have more free time to do other things. 2. Note-taking system 1. I use a digital system for note-taking. You can totally replicate this with a physical one. I use Notability for taking class notes and annotating slides. Then, I use Goodnotes to write a condensed version of the notes. Lastly, I use Goodnotes to make review sheets. 3. Studying system 1. My study system includes me first doing the note-taking system, then I go over my condensed notes and searching on other resources if I'm still unfamiliar with the content and annotating those notes. Then, I use the review sheets to practice active recall by trying to explain each concept in my head. Then, I do my homework/practice questions with minimal help from my notes. 4. Filing system 1. So in my Notability I have different subjects open to keep all my annotated notes in. Then in Goodnotes, I have one notebook for each class and a folder for each class. The folder contains assignments, papers, and other forms related to the class that are not class notes. 2. As for computer files, I just save things on Google Drive and store them in my hard drive at the end of the semester. After going through these systems, you can kinda see why it would be beneficial to have a system for repetitive things you do. University can be pretty repetitive and once you are in the second semester of your first year, you get a good idea of how the semester will look. I highly suggest outlining your system and trying it out during the semester and tweak it as you go. Outlining a system also helps with figuring out why some parts of your academic career aren't working. For example, if you did poorly on an exam, you can examine what went wrong in your system. If you do different things for different exams, it's hard to pinpoint what went wrong.
