http://cablemuseum.org STAR POWER: ENERGY FROM THE SUN NEW ANNUAL EXHIBIT @ CABLE NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM The Sun, our STAR, provides almost all the energy for life on Earth. It gives us food and keeps us warm. It makes the wind blow and plants grow. It gives us heat, light, and the power to move. But HOW does that energy get here? HOW do we harness it? That is the focus of the new exhibit at the Cable Natural History Museum. Join us for the grand opening of our new annual exhibit, STAR POWER: Energy from the Sun, on Saturday, May 26, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. You will journey down the Photon Pathway to discover the secrets of photosynthesis, the drama of energy flow through ecosystems, and the dinosaur plants that power our homes. Feel the heat as you see how our Sun drives the wind and the rain! At the nuclear fission station, you will develop a new appreciation of Einstein's famous equation (E=mc2) and its pivotal role in your life on Earth. In addition to interactive encounters with the science of energy, the exhibit touches on both new and old ways that we harness the Sun. Windmills and wind turbines, lumber mills and hydroelectric dams, root cellars and geothermal wells all play an important part in the cultural history of Northern Wisconsin. With the Sun gathering power toward a solar maximum sometime next year, we will see an increase in sunspots, solar flares, and northern lights. The Sun is in the spotlight! It is a perfect time for you to come into the Cable Natural History Museum and experience the energy!
